CQWW Log Analysis

Two Radio Event Signatures

Two radio activity of single operator all bands (SOAB), single operator all bands assisted (SOAB A) and multi-single operator (MS) in the 2006 CQWW cw contest was examined using a custom built log analyzer. The techniques and findings are described in the article Two Radio Event Signatures written by Sylvan Katz, VE5ZX and José Nunes, CT1BOH, available by clicking on 2RE Article under Two Radio Signatures from the menu on the left hand side of the page

Data Files

An Excel workbook with detailed calculations and charts used in the article as well as zipped data files of two intermediate data files (two radio event and Q rate profiles) and a link to the 2006 CQWW cw logs are available from the menu on the left hand side of the page.

Reviewer Comments:

Bob Cox, K3EST
The paper Two Radio Event Signatures is an attempt to discover unique two radio features of three major categories. This is a ground breaking attempt to try to "blindly" anticipate the category of an entrant. The profiles generated in this paper lead to a consistently repeatable unique signature for SOAB, SOAB A and MS. Comparing a serious entrant's category to these profiles could help reveal outliers and further action could be pursued. With a larger N, derived perhaps from several years of results, and care given to controlling within group parameters, the profiling discussed in this paper could lead to identification of questionabale entrants and more accurate certification of winners.
